Not time for foreigners to leave India. Yet.

Tuesday, December 2, 2008, 10:34 PM GMT [General]

Apologies for being absent these last few days, but my work time has been taken up with events in Mumbai.

Putting journalism aside, I was speaking on a personal level to an American friend in New Delhi the other day who, when asked 'how's it going' replied, 'Okay...I suppose. Everyone's just very sad about what's happened'.

That might sound sentimental or mawkish as a written quote, but it was spoken in a heartfelt manner. It then struck me that for foreigners living in India particularly, these attacks have amounted to a loss of innocence.

Terrorism has always been theoretical threat in India (which moved close in September with the Delhi bombings) but the Mumbai attacks seem to have announced that the global jihadi franchise [New York-Kabul-Baghdad] really has opened a new outlet in India.

For anyone who has lived in India and loves India, it's hard to describe how depressing that is. My friend was right to use the word 'sad'. It is. Life for foreigners in Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore, will involve more than a certain amount of looking over one's shoulder now, which is exactly as the terrorists intended.

Given the massive wealth disparities, India has always been a wonderfully safe place to live for foreigners.  No car-jackings, few break-ins and very little violent crime compared with similar sized cities.

As a reporter you could wander the shanties of Mumbai or the poorest villages without ever fearing for wallets or mobile phones. How many such places could you say that of in the big cities of the developing world in South Africa or Latin America, or for that matter, Europe and the US?

The Mumbai attacks haven't changed any of that - and life, as in the past, will and must go on - but from what I've been hearing, these attacks have succeeded (understandably) in putting the expatriate community in cities like Delhi and Mumbai seriously on edge.

History says that these fears should fade, but only if the Indian security establishment can prevent another similar attack occurring in the next few months.

If they don't I can see the foreign communities in India (tourists, businessmen, diplomats) which are already jittery, getting very spooked indeed.

And unlike 99 per cent of ordinary Indians who must live with, and defy, this new menace, the foreigners can always get on a plane and leave.

    Monday Night

Tuesday, December 2, 2008, 05:20 PM EST [General]

Okay so I enjoyed most of Raw. Keyword being most. I loved seing Santino completely fail at doing Melina's entrance and his girly scream at being massaged by Golddust. I LOVED seeing Batista own Dolph Ziggler.

We get it dude, you're Dolph Ziggler. Can it. Please?

John Morrison's match with Finlay was actually good, save for the Hornswoggle abuse part. ;_; That was pretty mean. I would've outright disliked the match but...come on, it's the Shaman of Sexy. With abs like those you can't stay mad for long I think.

Shawn's interaction with JBL was interesting to say the least. I was hoping he'd superkick the hell out of him but he seemed really deep in thought...maybe a little hurt even at the repercussions of the end results? The look in his eyes was somethin' else I'd say, but I'm probably reading too much into it, it's a force of habit.

Another plus! The Miz's shirt! It's so cute with the little chick and the magnet! It's really the only thing cute about The Miz! His shirt! Kudos to Rey for pulling the victory out. I'd like to see him sporting some IC gold, it'd be a first. :( That aside, what's been the deal with Mike Knox?

The ending part was unecessary although completely expected. I figured Jericho would enlist the help of Security AND Cody, Manu, and Orton to take out Cena. C'mon Jericho, be a little less predictable. It took a sneak attack, and an impressive DDT onto Concrete courtesy of Orton (who probably only jumped in because of old scars being touched on not because Jericho told him to) for Jericho to even get John into the Walls of Jericho.

I loved the fact though, that despite all the suffering, and Cena yelling in pain he did not submit as the show came to a close. Great Willpower, John. Great Willpower.

In case you haven't figured this out by now, I tend to ramble and cheer over the slightest things. I can't wait for the Slammys, I'd love to see Jeff as Superstar of the Year!

    WELCOME TO MY BLOG!!!

Tuesday, December 2, 2008, 02:15 PM PST [General]

This is my first blog on KIISFM.com. (*loud applause*)

Thank you very much! (*bowing repeatedly*)

My previous blogs have been on Myspace.com. I also spend time on Yahoo.Answers which is unusually entertaining for me. (LOL.)

My life is far from boring and very busy, so I will be writing occasionally.

You may find me under username "The Lady" for both these sites.

    ***

I have a cute story about my little boy. I have 2 sons, Jonny (2) and Ethan (9). They are both half white and half mexican little devils. They are the cutest boys in the world. They don't look anything like me (LOL). I am white with blue/grey eyes. My hair naturally is a dark blond/light brown. Both my boys came out with deep dark brown eyes and chocolate brown hair. Their complexion is naturally tanned.

Every mom has amusing stories about their children. I got one that tickled my funny bone this week. My 2-year-old Jonny suffers from a few allergies and he came up with an interesting way of expressing his suffering this Thanksgiving weekend. He must have had a stuffed up nose when he told his Daddy and I, "Mommy, my nose not work!"

"What? It doesn't work? Is it broken?" I asked him. "Yes, broken." He replied.

    INSTITUCIONES PARA EL PUEBLO

Tuesday, December 2, 2008, 05:09 PM EST [General]

INSTITUCIONES PARA EL PUEBLO, ORFANDAD PARA LOS CRIMINALES

              JUAN MANUEL SALAZAR PIMENTEL

¿Y, si no?

Los exámenes de control de confianza pueden perder su eficacia tan pronto como se aplican, y carecen de la virtud de garantizar que ante determinadas circunstancias o ante posibilidades inéditas los ex
